Maimuna Ibrahim Yusuf Initiative
A Change of Narrative
Breaking barriers and building futures for divorced women in Northern Nigeria through empowerment, education, and community support.
To transform how society views divorced women as well as how divorced women allow society to view them
We empower women—emotionally, economically, and intellectually—starting with 50 participants in Sokoto State.
Transforming Lives, One Woman at a Time
In the heart of Northern Nigeria, divorced women face an uphill battle against deep-seated cultural stigmas and systemic barriers. The Maimuna Ibrahim Yusuf Initiative (MIYI) was born from a vision to transform this narrative, creating pathways to empowerment, dignity, and self-sufficiency for these resilient women.
The Challenge
Divorced women in Northern Nigeria face severe social stigma, economic hardship, and emotional trauma, often left without support systems or opportunities to rebuild their lives. Many struggle with depression, financial instability, and social isolation due to cultural taboos surrounding divorce.
Our Solution
MIYI provides comprehensive support through healing workshops, vocational training, and community building. We create safe spaces for women to heal, learn, and grow, equipping them with the skills and confidence to become self-sufficient leaders in their communities.
